I think these might be old

I think these might be old Jelly Ears, but I'm not at all sure, as they don't look very jellylike and are rather dark coloured. Could that be a fallen Elder branch they are growing on?

Not Elder

It seems quite a while since I took this picture now but I think it might have been oak (but don't hold me to that!), it definately wasnt Elder though.

That is consistent with the ID agreed to here. As it says in Wikipedia "Exidia glandulosa ... is a common, wood-rotting species in Europe, typically growing on dead attached branches of oak."
