The cone scales curve outwards suggesting this could be either Japanese Larch (L. kaempferi or its hybrid with L. decidua, L. x marschlinsii.
No, I thought just the opposite MrG, the scales seemed straight to me that is why i went for Larix decidua
I was sorting out some tree images over the weekend and have put them here:
looking about half way down page
They show L. decidua, L. kempferi with cone scales straight or curved to different extent, the photos including this one were all taken within a couple of days of each other possibly indicating that L. kempferi also comes out a bit later.
