Fragrant trees

It's coming up on that time of year when a tree near to where I get my bus will be coming in to leaf. From early-mid Spring, I often find that one of a group of three trees becomes beautifully fragrant - it's such a pleasant smell that I've been known once to skip a bus and get another.

The thing is, I don't know which tree is producing it. As I say, there are three trees, a smallish conifer, and two different deciduous trees.

Are there any trees that are particularly well-known for their fragrance?

I will try and get a photo tomorrow to help identify them, but it would be good to hear any thoughts on this.
