Eleonora's

Eleonora's is like a big Hobby. It is a dark species without the brown tones of a Kestrel. Long thin wings and a long tail. One of those that you would know if you saw it!

What about Lesser Kestrel?

I wouldn't want to say that this is a Lesser Kestrel, but could it be a possibility?

If you zoom in on the full sized image the hind claw that can be seen looks pale to me (it should be more obvious if it was black). This could easily be an 'illusion' in the photo, but I would think that an early October migrant would be a possibility, though perhaps a little late in the year (Common Kestrels are the only Kestrel that now breeds on the Balearic Islands).

Lesser

You are right, Roy, I should have gone for the 'It's likely...' option. Blowing it up, it does look pale, but as you say, we can't be sure.
