Description:

Was tangled in spider's web. Thought it was dead, but removed and untangled to ID, and found it was alive, so popped it on a gate to photograph. It then flew off! Arable and grazing farmland surrounding. Hedges and trees. Grass verges.

Early Aphodius

A prodromus and sphacelatus are the two very early spring members of the genus. I agree this is prodromus, which also has pronotum dark to the base, rather than being bordered at the base (as well as sides) with yellow.
