Latin Name

Hi, the Latin name isn't being recognised by iSpot because of the "donovan" bit.

If you enter the common name and then press get recommended it will bring up the scientific name and link it to other observations on iSpot.

Author names

Ispot uses the scientific names to link identifications to other observations of the same species. The way it is set up it will only link this observation to others if only the binomial name is given (though in some cases certain subspecies are recognised and link together).

Cordulegaster boltonii (Donovan, 1807), with or without the date, is an acceptable way of writing the scientific name (probably even better than leaving off the authors name), but Ispot doesn't recognise it!
