Have you got many hibernating in the Ipswich area. We have thousands in the the Mistley, Dedham,Colchester areas.
Been watching them all winter and surprised at the way they were out and about even in frosty weather.
I must say that I got so used to seeing Harlequins last year, I thought at first that these were also them. I've certainly noticed a few ladybirds about all winter. To my mind they are up there with the Robin as a familiar creature that is nonetheless a pleasure to see. These caught my eye especially because I was looking for Scarlet Elf Cup fungi and so was drawn to anything red.
