Hi Cathal, dont think its a caddis fly looks more like a click beetle or other beetle species about to take off after opening its wings,but maybe somebody more learned will come along.
Yeah, I dont really believe its a caddis either, it has a mothy look to it, might be a micro moth? I cant really see it as a beetle myself, I think there is only one thing for it, to get it more attention, going to have to crop it down and post it alone.
first impression was a long horn micro moth (Adelidae),but the light shading around its back looked like a beetle opening its wing case would need a lateral view for me to be sure , cant see anything similar in Chris Manleys British moths so posting seperately might be a good idea.
I'm pretty certain it's not a micro moth. Not sure what it is though.
