Fungus on willow

Observed: 23rd February 2012 By: oldsteve
1- fungi (1 of 1)

An extensive bracket fungus on a willow tree. I cannot see anything quite like it in my (very basic) references.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

This is probably...

This is probably Trametes versicolour or Stereum hirsutum, judging by it's closely packed rows of brackets and season. But a photo of the upper surface would help ID.
