Can you say anything about the structure of the blotch? Are they really cavities in the substance of the leaf? And was there any sign of a larva?

these look like Violet leaves not ground ivy.I suspect the blotches have a fungal source

checked again in March when in bloom.
They were indeed violets
The blotches had mostly by then become holes
No blotches on the the new leafs
