Tipula

I have agreed but I have a feeling that an expert could take this down to a possible Tipula species, we need Martin Harvey really.

Tipula

I agree that this is genus Tipula, subgenus Yamatotipula, and very likely to be Tipula lateralis as suggested by Wildlife Ranger. However, there are several similar species in the subgenus and for certainty I think we'd need to see detailed close-ups of the tip of the abdomen.

And just to return to my current hobby-horse - the links work best if we use genus names alone, without putting "sp" on the end!
