Was amazed to find knawed trees alongside the river and then in my amazement there was a swooshing sound from the middle of the river and great water disturbance and putting 2 and 2 together have seen a beaver just a few miles from a major city.

I would be very surprised if this were a beaver as you are over 150 miles from the release site and the animals are well watched and accounted for.

The splash could have been a fish jumping.

When you say the trees were gnawed, do you mean they had gnaw marks on them or were they chewed right through?
