It amazes me just how much one species changes it's appearance completely throughout it's instars.

Really nice Douglas,

I thought I had found a new caterpillar for me back in the summer. I had seen these cats at all stages (or so I thought) from tiny black to BIG and all green. Then I foung this lovely mostly yellow but with black markings caterpillar with white hairs.

Yes, it was the emperor, I sort of new it was going to be but had a secret hope I'd found something new (for me). They would be just beyond your 4th image, think it was early Aug, will share later when I get to my own laptop.
