Description:

This most beautiful of trees is native to Brazil and Argentina. It is widely planted in warm countries but I have seen it mainly in Madeira, the Azores and the Canaries, where it is widely planted as a garden plant and street tree.A few observations of this plant have appeared on iSpot recently, and I wanted to share my photos as well.Seeing this tree against a blue sky on a warm October day for the first time was one of the highlights of my botanical experiences. In one of my photos I am looking down on the tree from a cable car leading to Mont Palace Gardens in Madeira,
