Aphodius contaminatus
Description:

Small beetle rescued from a bird bath. The white blob on the elytrum was a tiny larva which obviously moved between the two photos being taken. Not sure if it was on the beetle for a reason or just casually scooped up in the rescue.

Aphodius contaminatus

Markings on the elytra look right fot A. contaminatus, and it is a characteristic autumnal species.
