Red deer

Interesting photo of a red deer with newly forming antlers. I assume this one was captive. If you post captive animals it is best to make this clear as confirmed records from iSpot are sent to the Mammal Society for their records and for inclusion in the Mammal Atlas they are compiling.

Hi Graham, Thanks for the

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the feedback. The red deer is actually wild. The picture was taken from inside a hide at the time which is how I got such a close picture.

Cheers

Excellent, that comment verifies it as a wild deer.

Speyside hide?

I thought I recognised it as the Speyside hide? (and also in the pine marten post), which was why I didn't query whether captive. We had wild red deer there too last year.

Yes it is the speyside hide.

Yes it is the speyside hide. It was very nice being able to see the pine marten. The stag kept scaring off the badgers though!!
