Hi Tanya, This is either Oak

Hi Tanya,

This is either Oak Eggar or Northern Eggar, the latter being a sub species of Oak Eggar -if I am not mistaken.

I think you have a Northern Eggar larva here, but I think there is some disagreement over the validity of the existence of the sub species.

Im just not 100% certain on the whole thing, hopefully someone else will clarify things.

Cathal.

Yes this is almost certainly

Yes this is almost certainly Northen Eggar. You can almost go on location alone. The caterpillars do show slight differences I believe though.

Best wishes,

Douglas
