It might be clavicornis or it might be providus. I've found it tricky to separate females and undissected males of this pair and I've often found them together.
I guess Joy's keys must still work but there's much better available:
Thanks Mark, I've managed to get a look at the clavicornis/providus couplet of the RES volume and to my naive eye this looks quite reasonable for clavicornis: Punctation pretty even across tergites, femora less than 1/4 darkened apically. Would you say that it is still not clear enough for a definitive ID?
(Using Joy is just a matter of financial necessity for a very part-time naturalist like myself. I do try and get the RES keys eventually but it sometimes has to wait a while.)
