Description:

There seems to be lots of complex material on the taxonomy of these with some suggestions that different species can only be determined from analysis of a sonogram of the calls. So I thought I'd add this one here to see what views people have.

Long decurved bill

The long decurved bill rather than a square blunt-ended bill points clearly to Common Crossbill

However I thought there were now considered to be several cryptic species contained within what was regarded as one. Perhaps I am misremembering something.
