A bright orange fungus growing on an old tree stump [elm maybe] and growing in florets.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

There are a few fungi that do this,I was told this and there is a very good article about it in the the association for British fungus groups quarterly magazine.

Thanks Fenwickfield, interesting to know the relationship. Surprised a little that this has shown over the last few days when it has been cold and windy.
