Does it grow in IOW?
Yes, very much so. There are generally a few plants growing outside in Ventnor Botanic Gardens.
I have grown it in my garden on the Undercliff, but don't have it currently. Have known the plant for years as we used to grow it in my native Cornwall.
Have seen it in the temperate biome of the Eden project.Just looked it up in Hillers Manual of Trees and Shrubs and it appears to be listed as a hybrid P.'Dalmaisiana'((P. myrtifolia x P.oppositifolia)which apparently is the Polygala myrtifolia var. grandiflora of horticulture.Anyway whatever the accurate name is it's a great shrub for longevity of flowering, love it!Mentioned by W. Arnold- Forster in a classic book 'Shrubs for the Milder Counties'(Country Life 1948) and by an even more classic book Edgar Thurston' British & Foreign Trees and Shrubs in Cornwall Cambridge University Press 1930.
Arnold - Forster gives P.' Dalsmaisiana' as a synonym.
