An odd looking lichen. The photograph shows the ascocarp which is held aloft on a thin stalk and surrounded by rays of threads. Looks very otherworldly. This specimen was growing on the branches of a Hawthorn tree.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
