Hole in Field

Observed: 14th January 2012 By: jowj
Hole in field
Description:

I'd appreciate some help as I don't know what made this hole. 3 holes appeared in a grass path (heavily used by dog walkers) in a field alongside a hawthorn hedge. The berries are nibbled hawthorn. I couldn't see any poo. The hole is about the size of a 50p coin.

Hole

The hole appears to go straight down, therefore, I'd suggest bank vole. They dig holes which go down then turn and go up creating a U-bend to prevent their burrows getting wet.

Thank you Naturalist Man -

Thank you Naturalist Man - would the three holes be connected or single burrows?

You know, I'm not sure? I'll try to find out, does anyone else know?
