It's one of 5- and 6-spot burnet - wouldn't like to call which from the larva, but the NBN doesn't have any post-1980 5-spot records from the IOW and 6-spot is abundant so it's probably that species. They don't feed on plantain but are often found on it where it grows in amongst trefoils (the foodplant).

That sounds likely then! There's definitly lots of trfoil growing around that area!
