The Dragon Tree owes its name to it's resemblance to a mythical creature. Endemic to the Macaronesian region, it is a common sight in parks and garden but in the wild populations are being depleted and it is classified as vulnerable and it is protected. It is also an official plant symbol of the Canaries.Has medicinal properties its sap is dried and ground into a powder and is known as Dragons Blood.
