The apparent small size indicates muntjac. However, size can be confusing, the short legs, fairly uniform pale tan colour and head shape confirm this to be a muntjac.
I wonder how it died? When I was working for the YWT we ran a campaign to have deer steps put into canals as many die trying to climb steep river and canal banks, like the one in this photo. If you look carefully you'll see its stomach has been ripped open, not sure if this has happened pre or post mortem.
