Can you really be sure of the species? See http://www.bladmineerders.nl/minersf/lepidopteramin/stigmella/aurella/au... and the discussion on similarity with S. splendidissimella.

Well the other species

Well the other species suggested haven't been recorded in the area, with aurella being rather common.

I've also been told aurella has rather distinctive mines and I've heard about splendidissimella but I thought there were some differences; however I understand with moths (and indeed many other groups of species), things change very quickly what with accepted distinguishing characteristics, take Svensson's Copper Underwing as an example.

But thank you both for making me more aware.

Best wishes,

Douglas
