I would have quite liked to see another picture of the middle bird, just to reassure myself that Bonaparte's Gull is definitely wrong. Just that the bill looks dark and small, in comparison to the Black-headed on the right side. Can't see the overall size, legs..etc., though.

If I save the image and add a lot of brightness I think the bill of that gull shows a lot of red whereas on C. philadelphia it would be all black (or virtually so) so I don't think it can be that.
You're probably right...I am a believer in airing any such thoughts, though, as it gets people checking. Red is a waste of time for me due to colour-blindness, especially if you had to add brightness to get there!
