Hard enough to see the leg colour Foxy, it might be Pterostichus madidus if the legs are chestnut brown?
P. cupreus is supposed to range from 'brassy green to black'. I havent checked the Irish status of either, but might be worth a look.
Cathal thanks ,legs look chestnut in other photos and looks good from http://www.habitas.org.uk/InvertebrateIreland/photo.asp?item=ptermadi
If you want to add an id I will second.
If youre confident about the ID go ahead and add ID, or just wait and see if anyone else offers confirmation or alternative?
I only looked 1 book and there could be other candidates.
Size and leg colour could well point towards P. madidus and that habitas image looks good too.
