It is Lasius or Formica, I

It is Lasius or Formica, I think the latter, but no absolutely diagnostic generic character is visible in the pic. If the reddish shade to the middle is real, it will be F. cunicularia. The red is too dark for F. rufa, and if it was that you would expect nest mounds close by.

I would agree most likely ID

I would agree most likely ID is Formica cunicularia. Interesting if so, as inland mid-Wales has very few records for the species.
