This is a Lesser Redpoll, which is the main redpoll found in the UK. Common Redpoll is the continental redpoll, though odd ones do breed in the north, perhaps, and certainly srrive in large numbers, some winters (like last winter). They are larger and paler on the rump, amongst other things, than 'our' Lessers.
