ID Comment

Pyrausta purpuralis has more gold / yellow markings on the fore wings. It also has a white spot on each hind wing but this would probably be hidden in this shot anyway.

I have a photo of Pyrausta aurata taken a few years ago from my back
yard. I looked it up at the time and decided it was P purpuralis; I now know better, much obliged.
