Yes an interesting find recognisable brassy abdomen identify with its brassy abdomen, grey stripes on its thorax and the two wing 'darker marks'

It is a nice hoverfly and always a good addition to a day's list. Locally to me, at least, they are most easily found by looking at tree trunks, at woodland edge, in the early morning sun, around 08.30hrs. After that, they are less easy to locate.
