Description:

Tree or shrub in the Polygonaceae family,native to Antilles and Tropical America.
The tree is widely grown in the Canaries in gardens and planted as a street tree.Very good in coastal areas. I have seen it growing in beach sand!Wood is used in carpentry, and fruits are edible.
