Could be a immature Phallus or Geastrum if it is a regular place you visit it may be worth keeping an eye out to see how it develop's.
Could it be an undeveloped Amanita? I can't really see if it is scaly in the picture.
hi fenwickfield went back after 5 days no sign of it, it was out in the sticks in a load of nettles so the chance of someone moving it was remote , regards keith
