Description:

Habitat Found in grassland/meadow. Young puffball Hard and smooth. Old Puffball light brown and soft.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

I'd have said this was a

I'd have said this was a scleroderma earthball not a puffball, was this actually attached to the ground, could it have come from somewhere else. sclerodermas usually grow in woodland but can sometimes be found in other habitats although probably not in the middle of a grassy field as this appears to show.
