Large dark coloured dragonfly found patrolling a small clearance in a wooded area between Church Lane and St. Michaels Drive.

Southern Hawker

Yes, southern hawker, your description of the key identification features is excellent. The common hawker can have the 'shoulder' stripes but they are never as large and the spots on the last segments are never fused on any of the other hawkers.
