Poor condition deer skull remains

Description:

First thoughts were Reeve's Muntjac given the small size, but in this scenario the antlers point backwards. This only leaves the Roe deer option - I think !!!

Roe deer

Your first assessment was right, this is a roe deer. Roe deer antlers also point backwards but at a shallow angle, as here. Muntjac antlers are almost horizontal.
