Pinkish jelly fungus on a rotting Silver Birch trunk.

Purple!

Fenwickfield, thanks. I can see some very similar IDs on this site. Nothing at all like the photo in R. Phillips' book, which is brown, not purple!

Jorden's book is good but fungi is variable in colour depending on age and sometimes photo's can also be slightly wrong.
