When I found something

When I found something similar I thought it might have been an old wasp nest or maybe a cup fungus until it was ID's as H. utriformis!

"Eventually, all that remains is the sterile cup-shaped base, which can sometimes hold water. This feature may have been the source of the specific epithet, as utrarius is Latin for ‘water carrier’." See http://eol.org/pages/11456525/details.
