Description:

Growing from what appeared to be a pile of grass/hay in open woodland.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Are those gills forked? Could this be a False Chanterelle with a short stem and a liking for hay stacks?

Not sure if it had forked gills......

Not sure if it had forked gills. I thought it might be tawny funnel cap (Lepista flaccida) or (highly unlikely) jack o'lantern (Omphalotus illudens).
