This was another new one for me in France this year, a Common Club-tail I believe. It was beside Le Loir just south of Le Mans. I usually try to avoid ground shots but it's where this chap was and I'd rather have that than not have one at all. ;-) The tail's gone a bit soft - must go back and get a better one. :D
I've posted it partly for confirmation but also to contrast with another recently posted immature example from chrisbrooks1298 to show the colour change.

A Mature one

Hi Chris,

I've posted what I think was a mature specimen of a Common Club-tail that I saw in France this year to contrast the colour with your immature chap.

This was my first so I've stopped short of being certain. ;-)

A mature male, I agree. The cut out shape on the inside edge of the rear wing is gender specific.
