These small larvae were found in large numbers under woodchip/leaf litter, fairly close to a Sycamore tree. They were around 15mm in length and were in large collections, although they quickly burrowed deeper into the soil.

You can quite often find big

You can quite often find big aggregrations of Tipulid (cranefly) larvae in this sort of habitat, but they don't tend to bury themselves very quickly. I think they are fly larvae of some kind, though.
