This fish became an old friend. I caught it a total of 7 times over three seasons but never as big as this capture. It reached a top weight of 29 pounds but caught by another, lucky chap.
Pike have unique markings and identification of the same fish is fairly easy.

I should have said Chris that your Pike posting is what prompted me to post my Trout recapture.
Regards Peter and tight lines for 2012!!
I'm glad the image prompted your post, I didn't realise that the markings were unique in trout as well. As most caught trout end up in the freezer or pot I suppose there is little opportunity to compare the markings.
But some of us at least are moving on.For instance the group of lochs where that trout was caught we generally eat out of two or three of them which hold larger stocks but lower average weights and catch and release in the others which hold fewer but higher average weight trout.
