Observed: 10th December 2011 By: bertel

This was seen close to a pine tree and seemed to be attached to a surface root of the tree but no distinct stem could be observed. The pen is 14 cms long so the overall diameter of the fungus is about 36 cms. The top and underside were dry and hard. I have not seen a bracket fungus completely circular like this one but guess that is what it is.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
