Tiny Young Fungi?

Observed: 30th September 2011 By: dannyatbdannyatb’s reputation in Fungi and Lichensdannyatb’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

Description:

These tiny fungi were growing on soil above a small stream and they were less than a cm long i think. Are they very young mushrooms? or something else?
The ones in the middle of the image look different to the brown and orange ones to the left of the image.
Can anyone figure out which species they are?

Don't think that

I think they may be fruiting bodies(seed heads) from moss.

Possible For I.D.?

Thank you,

is it possible to i.d from these fruiting bodies or do they have to be further developed?

Will

I will go through my mosses books and see if I can find anything and get back to you.

Hmm

There are some liverworts lurking here, but I don't think they explain it; as far as I know, liverworts have black capsules.

They seem a bit large for moss capsules and don't have obvious setae (stems). I think a fungus is still a strong contender.

If it is fungi we need to

If it is fungi we need to wait for developments.

I wish I could wait for

I wish I could wait for developments but unfortunately it was at a place that I won't be going to anytime soon as I only went to the place on one day.

So maybe we will never know what they are :(

Sorry.

Hopefully I will find them in the future again though.
