This female Brambling hatched in 2011 - the three greater coverts closest to the 'leading edge' of the wing are clearly white-tipped, whilst all the others are orange-tipped. The white-tipped feathers are characteristic 'juvenile' feathers (ie the ones it had when it left the nest), whilst the orange-tipped ones are adult-type (ie feathers this bird replaced after leaving the nest).
