Description:

This is on a north facing dry stone wall (millstone grit geology)

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

  • Lecidia tessellata
    Confidence: It might be this.
  •  
    Likely ID
    Porpidia crustulata
    Confidence: It might be this.

Thanks Alan. I've made a note about Lecidea being split up.I've a couple of others that I think my be Porpidia which I'll post up though won't attempt species as I don't have a microscope!

A year on

Indeed more than a year since I named this P. crustulata. In the intervening time I have got to know the crustose species a little bit better. I am now more confident of the ID than when I first made it.

Still best confirmed with a microscope though.
