Black 'stalk' about 5-6cm tall common in lawn. Seem to grow singly rather than in clumps


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

  • Geoglossum cookeianum
    Confidence: It might be this.
    Likely ID
    Geoglossum sp.
    Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be.

Thanks Alan for your tips. My book isn't very detailed (Roger Phillips)though I didn't realise that there are so many species. I'm happy with Geoglossum sp though. Thank you
