Features

To help me improve my fungus ID skills (and there is a lot of improvement possible) what are the features that led you to this ID?

Colour

The colour is perfect for an old specimen as they age dark red also shape kidney shaped,pores are maze-like reddish-pink with age,tree type favours willow birch and beech and a lot of it is seeing a certain fungi on lot's of occasions at different stages as they don't always fit in with the photo in the book's.
